Søren Holm is both Professor of Bioethics at the University of Manchester and Professor of Medical Ethics at the University of Copenhagen. Søren holds degrees in Medicine, and in Philosophy and Religious Studies from the University of Copenhagen, a Masters degree in Health Care Ethics and Law from the University of Manchester and a Diploma in Health Economics from the Danish Hospital Institute. He also holds a PhD and a higher Danish doctorate from the University of Copenhagen.

He has been the President of the European Society for the Philosophy of Medicine and Health Care, and President of the International Association of Bioethics.

He is a former member of the Danish Council of Ethics and of the Nuffield Council on Bioethics.

He was the Editor of the Journal of Medical Ethics 2004-2011 and Editor of the journal Clinical Ethics 2011-2022.

He edits book series for Oxford University Press and Springer.
