Laura Hassan is based in the Department of Languages and Cultures of the Near and Middle East at SOAS, University of London. Her doctoral project explores the work of a 13th century Ash’ari theologian, Sayf al-Din al-Amidi (d.1233), and its relationship to both Avicennan philosophy and classical Ash’ari theology. Laura has further research interests in the field of Qur’anic Studies, and is active at SOAS in inter-faith dialogue. She studied Arabic and Islamic Studies with Syriac at the University of Oxford, and has also studied Arabic in Alexandria and Fez.
