Tim Howles is Associate Director of the Laudato Si’ Research Institute (LSRI), based at Campion Hall, University of Oxford. The LSRI carries out academic research on the socio-ecological crisis by means of an “integral ecology” paradigm, a methodology that stipulates transdisciplinary collaborations and attentiveness to the concerns of the poor and marginalised in the world. Tim is also a Research Fellow in Political Theology at Campion Hall and an Associate Member of the Faculty of Theology and Religion, University of Oxford.

Tim’s research interests lie at the intersection of politics and theology, with a focus on contemporary continental philosophy (especially the work of Bruno Latour, Michel Serres and Massimo Cacciari). He leads a number of research projects, including a John Templeton Foundation grant addressing the impact of new genetic technologies on Catholic-majority populations in Latin America.

Tim grew up in Birmingham and remains a committed supporter of West Bromwich Albion football club. He is also an ordained Anglican priest and continues to engage in ministry in his local church.
