Ken Taylor is the pastor of Gentilly Baptist Church in New Orleans. He formerly served as pastor of Elysian Fields Ave. Baptist Church, also in New Orleans. The two churches merged after Hurricane Katrina which destroyed the facilities of the latter. He is also Professor of Urban Missions at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, occupying the Chester L. Quarles Chair of Urban Missions. Prior of moving to New Orleans he practiced law in Alabama. He earned an M.Div. and Ph.D. from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He received an MLIS from Louisiana State University, a J.D. from the University of Alabama Law School, and a B.S. from the University of North Alabama. He has often been involved in disaster relief ministry and in teaching about disaster relief.
