Research Director

CAMBRIDGE

The Faraday Institute for Science and Religion is looking to appoint a Research Director to lead its multi-disciplinary research portfolio.

The successful candidate will have senior experience in an academic research organization, and a track record of securing funding and delivering successful outcomes from multi-year thematic research programmes. They will have the drive and determination to deliver impact from high quality research, will be a natural networker, recognized for achievement in their academic field, and will be in agreement with the Christian ethos of the Faraday Institute.

Salary £40,522 to £57,696 FTE (pro rata) per annum depending on qualifications and experience.

Job Description

This position will be 0.6 FTE (22.5 hours per week) in the first instance, although this could be increased if the post-holder secures funding for research in their own field at the Institute.

Fundraising Manager

The Faraday Institute for Science and Religion is looking for a dynamic and proactive individual to develop the Institute’s fundraising activities, which are key to supporting its ongoing research and education work.

The Fundraising Manager will work with the Director to implement the Institute’s fundraising strategy. The role will include developing activities to build stronger relationships with individual supporters and trusts in the UK and internationally, and developing new ideas for fundraising, drawing on the Institute’s strong network, global profile and multimedia resources.

The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, with an outcomes-focused mindset. They will be curious and creative, with the flexibility to be able to apply their fundraising experience to the Faraday Institute’s unique context and opportunities, and will be in agreement with the Christian ethos of the Institute.

Salary £30,488 to £34,585 FTE (pro rata) per annum depending on qualifications and experience.

Assistant Programme Director (Tutorial Programme)

The Faraday Institute for Science and Religion is looking to appoint an early career post-doctoral academic with USA educational experience to contribute to our expanding Programme of Tutorial Courses in Science and Religion for visiting international students.

The successful candidate will have academic qualifications and teaching experience as outlined in the job description, outstanding communication skills, work well in a team, and will be in agreement with the Christian ethos of The Faraday Institute.

Salary £33,314 – £37,474 FTE (pro rata) per annum depending on qualifications and experience.

 Job Description

This position will be 0.2 FTE (7.5 hours per week) in the first instance, with the expectation that the post will expand depending on successful student recruitment. The post-holder would also be encouraged and supported to apply for external research funding and/or additional teaching appointments, to create a full-time post.

The Faraday Institute for Science and Religion is looking for a highly motivated and pro-active individual with excellent interpersonal and organisational skills and a high level of attention-to-detail to join our team as Administrator. This key role supports the wider work of the Faraday Institute by:

  • Ensuring the smooth running of our office
  • Managing the recruitment process, staff contracts and inductions
  • Liaising with our HR provider on legislative requirements
  • Liaising with IT on security, license permissions and policies
  • Managing Health & Safety and GDPR policies, training and implementation
  • Providing PA support to the senior team and managing queries from the public
  • Keeping high quality records and minuting of meetings
  • Maintaining good relationships with our landlord, local partners and suppliers
  • Assisting with smooth running of events and bookstall

The successful candidate will have strong administrative skills and experience as outlined in the job description, will excel in written and verbal communication with a wide variety of people, work well both independently and in a team, and will be in agreement with the Christian ethos of The Faraday Institute.

Salary £28,759 – £32,323 FTE (pro rata) per annum depending on qualifications and experience.
