The Faraday Institute for Science and Religion is delighted to announce the appointment of Mr Graham Budd as its new Director as of October 1st, 2022.

Graham Budd was President and COO at Arm – one of the UK’s most successful global technology companies – prior to his retirement from the company in 2021.

He read Engineering at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge, before starting his career in technology at Thorn EMI Electronics. Graham joined Arm in 1992, initially as a design engineer, and subsequently led the development of several of Arm’s pioneering system-on-chip and single chip computer designs.

In 2005 he became Executive VP and General Manager of Arm’s Processor Division, then Chief Operating Officer from 2008. He was a member of Arm’s Executive Committee from 2005 and joined the main Arm Board in 2017.

Graham has held a number of business and charity non-executive Board roles and is a Trustee at SOS Children’s Villages UK. Graham is already very much part of the Faraday team, having served for several years as a Trustee. Since retiring from Arm last year, he has also been involved in running Faraday Courses. Prof. Sarah Perrett OBE will be continuing as Associate Director working alongside Graham in his new role.

The new appointment takes place as Prof. Paul Ewart steps down as Director.

Prof. Ewart has been involved in speaking and writing in the field of science and religion for many years and has been Executive Chairman of Christians in Science since 2019.

We are very grateful to Prof. Ewart for his time as Faraday Institute Director and in particular for his initiatives in building new collaborations.
