The Faraday Institute would like to congratulate Lord Martin Rees FRS on winning the 2011 Templeton Prize announced today (6th April). Lord Rees, Master of Trinity College, Cambridge, and until recently President of The Royal Society, has made seminal discoveries in the area of cosmology and the anthropic fine-tuning of the physical constants that characterise our universe. Lord Rees is also an influential voice in the public understanding of science and its role in society. Lord Rees has recently been involved in various events organised by The Faraday Institute – contributing to a panel discussion following a production of ‘Let Newton Be!’ at The Royal Society on 28th March and giving the opening talk at the Georges Lemaître Anniversary Conference on 7th April.
