We are sad to announce the death of Ernan McMullin on Feb 8th in his home county of Donegal, Ireland.
Ernan McMullin was previously the O’Hara Professor of Philosophy Emeritus at the University of Notre Dame. An internationally respected philosopher of science, Prof. McMullin was also a specialist on the life and writings of Galileo (see his Faraday Paper No 15 on this topic). Ernan McMullin was an Honorary Fellow of St. Edmund’s College and was a great friend and mentor of The Faraday Institute, either speaking at or attending all of our five Summer Courses since our founding in 2006. He will be sorely missed.
