Life in this world produces an ever-increasing range of challenges, whether Covid-19, the climate emergency , medical ethics or finding meaning and purpose. Science and Faith both give us ways to understand and respond to these challenges, especially when they work together.

To ensure a place on The Faraday Institute Summer Course, please register here (regular ticket: £75, student ticket: £25). Registration will remain open until places are filled.

For those unable to afford a regular or student ticket, a limited number of Faraday Scholarships and Bursaries are available. Applicants should register and apply as detailed below (DO NOT apply through the main registration page if applying for a scholarship or bursary):

Who can apply for a scholarship or bursary?

General requirements – applicants must:

  • Be an undergraduate or graduate of a recognised university from any country in the world;
  • Have a level of English sufficient to benefit from the course;
  • Be in genuine financial need.

After completion of the course, the recipient will agree to publicise the work of The Faraday Institute in their home country.

Scholarship eligibility (free registration):

In addition to the above general requirements, any scholarship applicants must be a current full-time student (undergrad or postgrad). In exceptional circumstances, free registration may be extended to others unable to pay for the course.

Bursary and Scholarship Applications are now closed. 

Bursary eligibility (discounted registration of £25):

Bursaries are available for others who would be unable to attend without financial assistance, including (but not limited to): early career graduates in any field, those in ministry training, unwaged, those from low-income countries.

Please submit the Bursary Application form below. Bursary applications will be considered on a rolling basis up until 14 June 2021 or earlier if all bursaries places have been filled. Successful applicants will be notified. Unsuccessful applicants will be given a full refund. Cancellations will be accepted up until 1 June 2021 and will be refunded less an administrative charge of £10.

NOTE: Faraday scholarships and bursaries are awarded by open competition. The application procedure requires the submission of sufficient information to make assessment equitable. The Faraday Institute emphasises that it cannot engage in any discussion or correspondence about why a scholarship or bursary application is unsuccessful.
