What is the world like, and how do we fit into it?

This course is aimed at science-engaged students (or university graduates) of theology or philosophy. Church leaders with an interest in science-engaged theology may also be interested in attending.

To ensure a place on “God, Freedom and Nature: Lectures on the Metaphysics of Science”, please register here (regular ticket: £50, student ticket: £25). Registration will remain open until places are filled.

For those unable to afford a regular or student ticket, a small number of  scholarships and bursaries are available. Applicants should register and apply as detailed below.

Who can apply for a scholarship or bursary?

General requirements – applicants must:

  • Be an undergraduate or graduate of a recognised university from any country in the world;
  • Have a level of English sufficient to benefit from the course;
  • Be in genuine financial need.

After completion of the course, the recipient will agree to publicise the work of The Faraday Institute in their home institution.

Scholarship eligibility (free registration):

In addition to the above general requirements, any scholarship applicants must be a current full-time student (undergrad or postgrad).

Bursary eligibility (discounted registration of £25):

Bursaries are available for others who would be unable to attend without financial assistance, including (but not limited to): early career graduates, church leaders or those in ministry training, unwaged, those from low-income countries.

Please submit the Scholarship or Bursary Application form below. Successful applicants will be notified after the application deadline of 30 April 2021.

Unsuccessful bursary applicants will be given a full refund. Cancellations will be accepted up until 17 April 2021 and will be refunded less an administrative charge of £10.

NOTE: Faraday bursaries are awarded by open competition. The application procedure requires the submission of sufficient information to make assessment equitable. The Faraday Institute emphasises that it cannot engage in any discussion or correspondence about why a scholarship or bursary application is unsuccessful.
